#WearADressWednesday

Guys!!! Guess what?!
It's Wear a Dress Wednesday!
I'm always hashtagging it on Instagram and Twitter [and now Facebook too, I guess...]
But WHY? Why do I post these dresses? Why is this a big deal???
[note: feel free to skim the explanation if you've known me for more than 5 minutes and are already inundated with this ish]


Look no further.

Wear a Dress Wednesdays [only 15 more this year!] came about as a part of the dress dare. One of my besties and I [note: see "Monica"] have been wearing dresses, skirts, and skorts EVERY SINGLE DAY this year of our Lord 2013.


"Why?" you ask.

Because we can. Because this time last year it sounded like fun. Because one of our other camp friends posted a status on Facebook about how she was going to wear dresses every day for a year and then we got all excited about it, and ... ta da! Here we are.


So, all those #OOTDS on Instagram and Twitter and Facebook are just to keep us honest and prove to ourselves [but mostly others] that we really are wearing dresses -- all day, errr day.

Oh, did I mention that part? It's not that we're wearing AH dress AH day, but rather ONLY DRESSES. So it's been a long year of no bumming around in sweatpants, no cute running shorts at the gym, no jeans for hiking and camping. Nope. We did it all in dresses.
Monica and I have already discussed our big plans for the "Pants Only" New Year's Day party we'll be throwing. Don't get me wrong. We LOVE dresses. That's why we did it in the first place. But imagine seeing all of your friends and cool people online snuggled up with a cozy cowl and skinny jeans and cup of coffee in their hands and you're over here at your little cousin's 5th grade basketball game in a dress. 

I have no real complaints, though, because our girl Mo over there? She's been training for A MARATHON all year.... in a skirt. What?! That's dedication. She's been in several races already this year and she always puts #thedressdare on her bib. How sweet is that?


Now might also be a good time to mention that, since I have to wear a dress anyway, I've convinced James that we should be this couple for Halloween. How stinking cute is that?? Like, gag me with a spoon sweet, right? ♥

To say I'm not counting down the days to the end of the dress dare would be a bit of a fib. To say I'll probably spend a week or so in pants ONLY would be completely true. But, with all of these dresses and memories, I think it's a safe bet that I'll be wearing dresses as a regular part of my wardrobe for a long time...

So, hang in there, kittens. Keep cheering us on. Believe me. Those moments when some mentions how much they love what we're doing or how cute a certain dress is... Well, it sparks a little fire in our hearts that reminds us why we started this is the first place.

Now, if you'll excuse, I have an #OOTD to post. :)

    So thats what happened to the most glorious beanbag ever? I had forgotten James attached himself to that when he was finishing out our apartment lease.

    You know, that's pretty hardcore. I'm wearing dresses for the month of September and I laughed at myself riding a pink in a dress and leggings. A whole year would be a totally different kind of ordeal. And you have some very, very pretty dresses there!!

    Awe. Great explanation! I don't know if I could handle 365 days of dresses, but your outfits always look so cute. You do it well. :)
