Write, Right?

"The reason one writes isn't the fact he wants to say something.
He writes because he has something to say."
-- F. Scott Fitzgerald

   Someday, I think, I would really love to write a book. A collection of short stories, perhaps, or a critique on some facet of our society/culture/generation. Maybe historical fiction, that gives a peek into the life and times of those who lived long ago. Who knows? Maybe I'll do all of the above.
   You know the way you feel when you come to really great line in a novel? Or the character says something that you would have said a million times if you had only had the words? When you stumble across a poem or a passage or description that speaks directly to what's happening in your life and you can't help but quote it or blog it and share it with your world?
Now, imagine being the person who created life or beauty or meaning out of that jumble of dots and squiggles on the page...
   The biggest trouble with it all is narrowing down the focus enough to make it something comprehensible and worthwhile. In case you're not a regular follower of my blog(s), it's good to take note that I am incredibly random and spastic. This is true in most areas of life, from setting goals to emotional stability to planning trips. Very little of it seems to have a common thread or theme (unless you count the fact that I'm the one doing, feeling, or saying it).
   To find the discipline, the courage, and the time to wade through the various thoughts and ideas and breathe life into characters would be thrilling and wonderful. Clearly, from all this blogging, Tweeting, Facebooking, and forum-posting, I have plenty to say, but will I ever have the guts to put it in ink, and bare it all to the world for its criticism or acclaim? And whatever on earth would I call it?

If you wrote a book, what would you call it? What would be the opening line?

I know it is more traditional to "give up" something during Lent. I guess you could say I'll be "giving up" reality for just a little bit. The next 40 days (and posts) are dedicated to dreams. So we're giving up limitations, fear, uncertainty.... and allowing ourselves to dream no matter how wild or crazy or out-of-this-world that dream might be!
40 Days of Dreams

Sarah :: Plucky in Love

Sarah, aka "Plucky", blogs on the reg, unless she's on vacation or there's a Pretty Little Liars marathon or she's mulling over the implications of the phrase "on fleek." She can't live without iced coffee, a portable phone charger, or equal pay. Say hello!
